The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.
My apologies, friends. I failed to post the day six Advent reading yesterday. The day simply got away from me. Today I am giving you both yesterday’s reading and today’s—without all the fluff of my own creative attempts at expression. Please read the Scriptures listed and use the questions for personal reflection. God will speak to our hearts through his Word.
May the Lord bless you as you seek to anticipate the celebration of his coming.
Day Six Reading: Deuteronomy 18:15-22
What does God’s decision to send a prophet say about his intentions towards his people?
Prayer—Lord, give me ears to listen well to you.
Day Seven Reading: Acts 3:11-26
Peter tells the crowd that all the prophets tell about the coming of Jesus. How should this affect the way we read the Old Testament prophets?
As you’ve read the announcements, prophecies, and reflections of Jesus’ birth this week, what are you hearing? What are the themes running through these announcements?
Prayer—Father, grant me a heart that waits in anticipation for the celebration of your coming.
