And he will stand to lead his flock with the Lord’s strength,
in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
Then his people will live there undisturbed,
for he will be highly honored around the world.
And he will be the source of peace.
Out from the smallest comes the greatest.
The forgotten and the inconsequential gives birth the mighty and the majestic.
This is the way of the Savior; the way of the Almighty. This is how our God reaches out to the filthy and discarded. He comes to us on our level, in our insignificance. He comes from the least and offers the way to the most—the fullest.
For this we wait. Not for it to happen, he has come already. But we wait as the hearers of Micah waited. We sit and prepare to celebrate the coming of the One. The Annointed. The Messiah. Jesus. He is coming to make peace. Coming to bring security and leadership to our wayward hearts.
As we anticipate, may we also seek the peace today that came with his birth. It is indeed good news of great joy that Peace has come. Will we live in it? Will we live because of it?
Out of the small, the weak and the oppressed has come the Shepherd. And he will stand to lead. And he will be our source of peace.
Day Five Reading: Micah 5:1-6
What do you make of the fact that Jesus comes from such a little clan of Judah?
This prophecy speaks of security, peace and deliverance. Are there areas of your life presently that need to seek Jesus’ security, peace, or deliverance?
Prayer—Father, teach me to live in the peace of the Messiah.
